The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium owns Zoombezi Bay, a 22.7-acre (9.2 ha) water park located north of Columbus in Powell, Ohio. The park is located on the former site of Wyandot Lake Adventure Park, which the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium acquired in 2006. On May 26, 2008, Zoombezi Bay officially opened to the public. With more than 400,000 visitors a year, it is today one of the most well-liked water parks in the Midwest. There are 17 slides in Zoombezi Bay, including Big Boa Falls and Python Plunge. Big Boa Falls has surprises around every corner, including a part that is enclosed, and then drops 30 feet down a steep hill. The first watercoaster in Zoombezi Bay is called Python Plunge. Additionally, visitors can enjoy the Cyclone, Baboon Lagoon, Crocktail Creek (for adults only), SoundSurfer, a lazy river, and the 544,500-gallon wave pool Wild Tides (a four-person raft cruises into the largest enclosed reducing-radius tunnel in the world). Play in the water at Otter Banks! Two body slides with unexpected drops, cabanas, an obstacle course with an aquatic theme, and more can be found at this attraction. Visit Jungle Jack's Landing's variety of dry rides, or relax in a private cabana with a snack, lunch, or refreshing beverage in between rides.
